Flitwick Town Council To Help Children on Free School Meals This Half Term

October 24, 2020
In response to the Government’s decision on Thursday 22nd October that there will be no extra support available this half term for families who have free school meals, Flitwick Town Council has announced that it will be helping families in Flitwick by providing lunches for children on free school meals during the half term week.
Food will be be freshly prepared at the newly opened Rendezvous Café & Bar at The Rufus Centre, where the Town Council is based, and will provide a hot, cooked meal, drink and a dessert.
Families who would like to take up the offer just need to send  a message via Facebook to the Rendezvous Café & Bar Facebook page, with the number of meals required.  Menus will be sent to everyone who responds so that children can choose what they would like to have for lunch.  The lunches must be pre-ordered and will be ready for collection from the Café between 11am and 12pm from Monday 26th October through to Friday 30th October.
This scheme is aimed at families that are genuinely in need and the Council is pleased to be able to offer support to those that need it during these challenging times.

Flitwick Town Council.

Flitwick is a small town in rural Bedfordshire which has seen significant development in recent years partly due to its excellent rail links to London. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the town has excellent leisure amenities and a vibrant community spirit.
Mentioned in the Domesday Book as ‘a hamlet on the River Flit’, Flitwick has many areas of historical and environmental interest including the 12th century Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, the Mill, Flitwick Manor - now a hotel, Flitwick Moor, a nature reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest which was once a source of peat for villagers and Manor Park, originally part of the Manor estate in the ownership of the Brooks family but now owned and managed by the Town Council for the pleasure and use of the community.
