Sheep Grazing at Nature Park
August 21, 2025
New residents will be relocating to the Nature Park on Maulden Road today.
A flock of mixed-breed sheep is moving into three fields to graze. Our first visitors will be up to 50 breeding ewes.
The number of sheep grazing will vary throughout the year, depending on grass availability and their grazing habits.
Visitors will be able to spot different breeds as they explore the park, including Welsh Hill Sheep, Kerry Hills with their distinctive black patches on their eyes and ears, and white Cheviots.
Fencing is already in place for the sheep. Sheep grazing the land is part of the adopted Nature Park Management Plan, and working with the grazier improves the sward within the three grass fields for grazing whilst increasing plant diversification.
